With a history stretching back 140 years, the
Dresdner Philharmonie is synonymous with
classical music. Composers of the caliber of
Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Dvorák and Strauss
performed their works there, as have countless
other illustrious maestros. The current
chief conductor, Michael Sanderling, a renowned
cello professor, was nicknamed the
‘sound designer’ by international critics. In
this recital, the orchestra features the cellist
Carolin Widmann, elected Artist of the
Year for 2013 at the International Classical
Music Awards.
