Internationally recognized as one of the greatest
living pianists, Nelson Freire is frequently
compared to such legendary figures as Rachmaninoff,
Cortot, Hofmann, Rubinstein and Gould.
Over a 50-year career, the Brazilian pianist has
performed for numerous illustrious conductors
and important orchestras, including the Philharmonic
Orchestras of Berlin, Munich and
Rotterdam and the Symphony Orchestras of Vienna
and London. Featured in Philips Records’
Great Pianists of the 20th Century series, in 2005
the award-winning soloist received the Victoire
d’Honneur for his career contribution
