The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, founded
in 1806, is the oldest in Switzerland. Based
at the Culture and Conventions Centre of
Lucerne, a recognized global hub of classical
music, this group rose to international
renown for its varied repertoire and constant
tours, always featuring celebrated maestros
and soloists. The current conductor is
the young and already acclaimed American
James Gaffi gan, who will be conducting the
talented French violinist Renaud Capuçon,
voted Instrumental Soloist of the Year at the
2005 Victoires de la Musique.
