Founded in 1998 by pianist Elena Bashkirova, the Jerusalem Festival Chamber Ensemble is the official representative of one of the most significant chamber music festivals in the world. The ensemble has all the telltale qualities of a number of high-level musicians who form a group for the sheer enjoyment of making music together.
Elena Bashkirova, the musical director of the festival and the group, studied at the Moscow Conservatory where she was apprentice of her father, the renowned musician and professor Dimitri Bashkirov. She is regularly invited to perform with orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, the Orchestra of Paris and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, alongside outstanding international conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta and Christoph Eschenbach.
