Jean-Guihen Queyras

Precision and sensitivity are the hallmarks of cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras. He has performed in the most prestigious auditoriums of Europe, Canada and United States alongside eminent conductors such as Philippe Herreweghe, Iván Fischer and Roger Norrington.
He has won notable awards such as the City of Toronto Glen Gould International Protégé Prize in Music, as well as the title of Artist of the Year, conferred by Diapason magazine.
Queyras was a soloist with Ensemble Intercontemporain, group with which he recorded Concert for Cello by Ligeti. In 2008, he received the Diapason D’Or award and the Choc de la Musique prize for Suites for Solo Cello, by Bach.
He is a professor at the Musikhochschule and serves as one of the musical directors of the Rencontres Musicales de Haute Provence.
