Fábio Zanon

Fábio Zanon guitar

Fabio Zanon is internationally recognized as one of the greatest living guitarists. His activities as a soloist, author, conductor, professor and communicator have helped bring about a change of perception concerning guitar as a concert music instrument. He began his tuition with his father and went on to study under a number of masters, including Antonio Guedes, Henrique Pinto, Edelton Gloeden and Michael Lewin. One strong, direct influence was Julian Bream, whose masterclasses he took while in London. In 1966, he won two of the world’s major international guitar competitions, the Francisco Tarrega Prize in Spain and the Guitar Foundation of America GFA Guitar Competition in the USA. Other accolades include the Santista Prize in 1997, the Carlos Gomes Award in 2005, and the Prêmio Bravo! in 2010. He was nominated for the Latin Grammy in 2011. He has been Visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London since 2008. He has played at the most important concert halls and festivals and at the head of important orchestras in over forty countries
