The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, created
in 1949, quickly achieved international
renown under its founder and chief conductor
Eugen Jochum. With its superior artistic quality
and vast repertoire, the Orchestra won a
Grammy for Best Orchestral Performance in
2006. Its current chief conductor, the highly-
-acclaimed Mariss Jansons, is known for two
laudable qualities: perfectionism and humility.
The guest pianist, Japan’s Mitsuko Uchida, won
the 2012 Gold Medal from the Royal Philharmonic
Society, one of the highest accolades in
classical music.
