The Tonhalle Orchestra is one of Europe’s most exquisite symphony groups. It was officially created in 1868 by conductor Frederich Hegar, who directed it for more than 40 years. Other conductors who have commanded the orchestra include Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach and David Zinman.
