Antonio Meneses | Cello

Created in 1971 by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, from Lisbon, the orchestra plays a significant role in the European musical scene. Besides the main works of the classical and romantic periods, the group regularly presents pieces by contemporary authors.
Lawrence Foster was the orchestra’s musical director for more than ten years and can be currently seen as a guest conductor in front of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and the Monte Carlo Philharmonic.
Antonio Meneses is one of the most esteemed cellists in the world. Present in the seasons of great orchestras such as the Berlin, Vienna and New York Philharmonic, Meneses is also part of the acclaimed Trio Beaux Arts. Since 2007 he has been a professor of cello at the Berne Conservatory, in Switzerland.
