“We believe that
classical music should be
within the reach of everyone.”
—The Hong Kong Sinfonietta
Founded in 1990, this young ensemble is characterized by a pioneering spirit, both for its efforts in the spreading and popularization of the traditional symphonic repertoire, and for its decisive commitment to contemporary music. The conductor Yip Wing-Sie took over the musical direction of the group in 2002. Under her command, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta has performed alongside artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman, among others, as well as going on tours across Japan, Italy, France and Poland.
