Due to health problems, Vadim Repin was forced to cancel his South American tour. Nevertheless, we are glad to announce that the great Hungarian pianist Dezsö Ránki has agreed to open our 2010 International Series.
Dezsö Ránki performs regularly at the most celebrated concert halls in Europe, Japan and America: London (Queen Elisabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall), Paris, Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Berlin, Viena (Wiener Festwochen), Milan, San Francisco, Montreal and Toronto and is frequently invited to the most prestigious music festivals, including Lucerne, Praha, Berlin, Grange de Meslay, Roque d’Anthéron and Lockenhaus. Dezsö Ránki studied at Franz Liszt Academy with Pal Kadosa and was awared the first prize at the Robert Schumann competition in 1969. Since then, he has performed with orchestras such as Berlin, London and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras, Concertgebouw, National of França and NHK in Tokyo, with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Kurt Sanderling, Jeffrey Tate, Frans Brüggen, Ivan Fischer, Lorin Maazel, Daniele Gatti and Antoni Wit. Dezsö Ránki recorded for the labels Teldec, Quint Records and Denon and his interpretation of Chopin Etudes op.10 was awarded the Grand Prix of the Charles Cross Academy.
