Jerusalem Chamber Ensemble

Latica Honda-Rosenberg, violin
Gérard Caussé, viola
Michael Sanderling, cello
Elena Bashkirova, piano

The cellist Michael Sanderling has won important cello competitions in his teens and, at age 19, was invited by Kurt Masur to be the first cello of the orchestra of the Gewandhaus of Leipzig, where he stayed for five years. He quickly became an internationally acclaimed soloist and is also known for his conducting skills. Elena Bashkirova is the creator and director of the prestigious Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival. She is also a recitalist and concert player who plays in the most prestigious concert halls and with the best orchestras in the world. Latica Honda-Rosenberg is among the foremost representatives of the new generation of violinists that is now established worldwide. Winning the silver medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1998 paved the way for her impressive international career. France’s leading violist, Gérard Caussé is widely acclaimed as ranking among the handful of great international viola talents of our time and one of the few who, since Primrose, have made the viola once again a solo instrument in its own right.

The Jerusalem Chamber Ensemble represents the meeting of four fabulous musicians. They are masters of their own instruments, they are all deeply in love with chamber music and, finally, they have an artistic complicity which puts them in a featured position amongst their few peers.
